Council approves advisory‑group work plans; EDC plan amended to add SWOT and partners

The West Linn City Council on Sept. 8 adopted work plans for its community advisory groups, including the Economic Development Committee (EDC), Historic Review Board, Transportation Advisory Board and Utility Advisory Board.
Councilor Kevin Bonnington proposed friendly amendments to the EDC work plan to add a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis and to explicitly add Historic Main Street and the Chamber of Commerce as research partners. Bonnington said the additions recognize existing local work and would help shape future, prioritized workstreams for supporting local businesses.
Council discussed whether the work plans would be living documents and how often they should be revisited; staff said each advisory group is required to provide an annual report and the plans can be modified as priorities change. The council approved the package of work plans as amended by consensus and formal roll call vote.
Councilors thanked staff for compiling the plans and noted the work plans will give better clarity to advisory groups and staff coordination moving forward.
