The mayor noted, "For context for people listening, Kim and I meet weekly with [the] city manager," emphasizing routine communication between leadership and staff. One speaker observed a procedural lapse in the meeting record — "we didn't have a motion and a second" — though the council nonetheless recorded the appointment by voice vote.
The appointment is procedural and did not change the mayoralty or the council roster. Council members used the opportunity to reaffirm expectations for regular coordination among the mayor, council president and city staff as the city begins its 2026 work plan.
