The Grand County Airport Board unanimously approved a proposal from Airport Garage Company to construct garages (eight units, 12 by 25 feet each) at Canyonlands Regional Airport, with final siting to be decided as part of the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) update.
A board member moved to approve construction; another member seconded. The motion passed by voice vote and members agreed to delay final location decisions until the ALP land‑side map is further developed.
Board members said the garages are intended to increase airport revenue and noted concerns about ad hoc placement. "Wherever we decide to put them, there needs to be plans to put more of them," a member said, urging ALP coordination. The board approved the building authorization while directing staff to coordinate placement in the ALP process.
Next steps: staff will coordinate garage siting with the ALP update and inform the developer of required design steps and approvals.
