Fountain Green officials certify and accept 2025 municipal canvass

Michelle Walker, the city recorder for Fountain Green, read and certified the city's canvass report for the Nov. 4, 2025 municipal election at the Nov. 18, 2025 canvass meeting. "I, Michelle Walker, the duly chosen qualified and acting city recorder of the city of Fountain Green, Sanpete County, state of Utah, hereby certify that the following is a true correct copy," Walker said as she presented totals and statistics.

Walker reported that 709 residents were registered to vote in Fountain Green and that 283 ballots were cast, a turnout of 39.92 percent. She announced the mayor at-large result: Willard Wood received 211 votes and was elected to the four-year term. For the two at-large city council seats Walker recorded vote totals of Rich Walker 178, Vaughn Jacobson 183 and Celeste Jacobson 147, totaling 508 votes in that race. Walker also detailed undervote counts, saying 72 voters did not mark the mayoral race and 58 did not mark one of the council contests.

The recorder described several ballot exclusions and county procedures: six ballots were returned past the statutory deadline, 11 were returned unsigned and two had signatures that did not match voter records. At the county level, Walker said Sanpete processed 5,360 ballots; county staff audited 99 ballots by hand and reconciled hand tallies with the county clerk's computer records.

The meeting record also includes a brief discussion about Spring City, where Walker said turnout was high (about 75 percent) but the city is facing litigation. An unidentified speaker summarized it as "the citizens of Spring City are suing the city council." Walker recounted an instance when ballot box carriers encountered a group of observers and a person she identified as a leader related to the Spring City lawsuits.

After Walker presented and certified the abstract of votes for Fountain Green, an unidentified member moved to accept the 2025 municipal general election results and another unidentified member seconded.
