Johnson and other staff noted difficulty securing short-term leases; most property owners have been unwilling to accept leases shorter than 24 months, which has affected negotiations. The board discussed options and asked staff to continue site visits and reporting back once lease terms and a contingency plan are clearer.
Project staff described design features (updated millwork, a larger children’s room at Syracuse, and attention to preserving building character), construction logistics and potential timing; they said carpet replacement in Kaysville is scheduled around Thanksgiving with curbside service maintained during the short closure.
