Orderville accepts single local bid of roughly $252,300 for park concession and bathrooms

The Orderville Town Board voted unanimously to accept a single bid for the concession and bathroom building at the new park, awarding the work to Eastside Builders for the bid amount presented (stated in the meeting as $252,304).

Board members noted the bid covers excavation, grading and the full building shell as presented. A representative for the builder (Speaker 5) described materials (LP board/batten exterior), two storage areas inside the building, roll‑up concession doors and that the published bid does not include air conditioning. Speaker 5 offered to provide a supplemental HVAC quote if the council accepted the bid as submitted and later added a change order.

Speakers discussed funding: Speaker 2 said the county contributed $150,000 toward the project; board discussion indicated approximately $500,000 is available in the park fund for 2025, of which roughly half would be used to purchase the building and the remainder to begin dirt work and field construction. The board acknowledged numbers discussed during the meeting were approximations and at least one speaker corrected an earlier figure during discussion.

Because only one qualified local bid was received, the board discussed the normalcy of change orders and the practicality of accepting the local contractor. Speaker 4 moved to accept the bid; Speaker 2 seconded. Speaker 1 recorded the vote as 4–0 in favor. The board directed staff to manage change orders and to obtain an HVAC quote if the council chooses to add cooling later.
