Bob said an internship departure has created two intern openings and that staff interviews are scheduled. He told the board, “The glass is being shipped now,” referring to tower windows, and said frames and roof work are being coordinated so installation should follow shortly.
Bob also described hanger inspections and an educational outreach campaign emphasizing lease terms and federal grant assurances. He noted landing fees go live the day of the meeting and that crews have been addressing spring erosion on taxiways and runways.
On emergency preparedness, Bob said ARFF (airport rescue and firefighting) training will be a 40‑hour certification session this week, with recertification planned next year, and that staff will be qualified to respond alongside the fire department.
Connor Butterfield, representing Lochner, said taxi‑lane painting should take about three to five days once dates are scheduled and that the FAA is reviewing the scope for new snow‑removal equipment; he also said preliminary designs for taxiway Charlie and Kilo are awaiting soils and survey reports and that a grant application for Kilo is in David’s inbox.
Event planning featured prominently: Bob and Andreas Wiesemann reported the ALP open house drew high attendance; Cash Air Fest is planned for June 28 with a NOTAM‑controlled open house expected 9 a.m.–3 p.m. and an anticipated 3,000–5,000‑person turnout; Run the Runway is scheduled for Sept. 13. Andreas encouraged interested volunteers to join a committee Zoom meeting scheduled the next morning.
Board members asked staff to update contact information so public comments can be routed through Janine Allen, the board secretary. The authority set its next meeting for Thursday, June 5 at 8:30 a.m.
No formal project approvals were taken; consultants said work will proceed once surveys, soils reports and FAA grant decisions are finalized.
