Consultants say airport master plan is ready; public open house slated for April

Consultant Judd Hill of Lochner told the board the airport master plan is finished aside from an open public house to gather community input. Hill proposed a roughly two‑hour open‑house session—proposed for Saturday, April 12—with large plan boards and staff available to answer questions before submitting the plan to the Federal Aviation Administration for review.
Board members discussed venue options, including holding the open house in the hangar to improve public access, and logistics such as breakfast and outreach. The board asked that the consultant prepare an invitation to be routed through Janine for posting on the website and distribution to stakeholders, and several members volunteered to help with outreach.
Lochner project staff also provided project updates. Connor Butterfield reported paint work will proceed when temperatures allow; taxiway Charlie reconstruction and taxiway Kilo construction are planned for this year, and a kickoff meeting with the FAA took place the same day. Butterfield said the PAPI power control unit will be moved about 120 feet to avoid trenching or horizontal drilling across a taxiway, which provides a solution within manufacturer distance limits to prevent voltage drop.
The board agreed to finalize the open‑house date and coordinate invitations; no formal vote was required to proceed with the FAA submission after the public input session.
