Commission approves business licenses, vouchers and payroll; tax adjustments and minutes also passed

The Duchesne County Commission approved a slate of business licenses, vouchers for Dec. 1, payroll for the period ending Nov. 22, tax adjustments and the Nov. 24 minutes; staff also reported open job vacancies and other routine administration.
At its Dec. 1 meeting the Duchesne County Commission approved multiple administrative items, including business-license renewals and new home-based permits, vouchers, payroll and tax adjustments.
Speaker 10 presented business-license applications for operators including Renew Landscaping (Juan Bravo Gomez), Carter Welding and Construction (Kyle Carter), BDA Utah Code LLC (Adam Johnson), Live Wild LLC (Carrie Wild), Southco Venture LLC (Jamie Hanson), Operational Technology Solutions Holdings (Jen Fenn) and the Speedy Goat seed store. The commission moved, seconded and approved the slate for the remainder of 2025 and for 2026 where fees had been paid.
On vouchers, Speaker 10 summarized an invoice for jail-camera work (four replacement cameras and hours of labor). Speaker 5 moved to approve the vouchers for Dec. 1; Speaker 2 seconded and the commission voted to approve.
Speaker 11 presented payroll for the pay period ending Nov. 22, reporting 215 employees were paid and reading a total payroll amount of $678,004.87. Speaker 2 moved to approve payment of payroll; Speaker 5 seconded and the motion passed.
Staff and Speaker 6 reviewed tax-adjustment items, including a restored Jacobson property and some credits going back to 2024; Speaker 5 moved to approve the tax adjustments as presented and the board voted to approve. Speaker 2 moved and Speaker 5 seconded approval of the Nov. 24 minutes, which the commission also approved.
Speaker 12 told the commission the county has several open positions (including controller, inmate kitchen manager, part-time librarian and an inspector) and asked whether to proceed with interviews; commissioners expressed support for hiring and possible Zoom interview options.
Later in the meeting the commission recessed into a closed session for personnel-related matters and returned saying there was no action to take from the closed session.
