Clarkston council approves November warrants; discusses culvert repairs and Santa event

Clarkston — The Clarkston Town Council approved its November warrant list and reviewed several community and maintenance items during its December meeting.
Staff presented the warrant list for Nov. 1–30, 2025 with line items: administration $7,839.19; fire and rescue $186.32; roads and street department $2,840.40; parks and recreation $8,948.07 (bringing the general fund to $19,813.98); water fund $2,622.60; perpetual care fund $1,352.12; grand total $23,788.70. A councilmember asked about a parks-and-recreation entry labeled "non-typical construction," which staff clarified was for cement work the council had budgeted; one councilmember observed a $10,000 estimate was obtained but the town secured the work for about $8,000.
After brief discussion, a councilmember moved to approve the warrant list and another seconded; the council approved the warrants by voice vote.
On public-works matters, council members reported that crews or volunteers had cleared four or five culverts; one culvert near the old posse grounds had not been located and would require a new installation estimated to cost about $12,000, the mayor said. The mayor also told the council he offered to pay the fire department $50 per culvert for the department's assistance in clearing culverts.
The youth council reported on a Santa-on-the-engine event scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. with 18 designated stops. Organizers asked that the event be promoted on the town website and social media; the Santa mailbox at the fire station will be removed by Dec. 18 to allow responses to letters.
Council did not set specific procurement schedules for the culvert replacement nor did it allocate a particular budget line during the meeting; staff will follow up with details as needed.
