Clarkston council certifies election canvass, approves minutes and warrants; hears routine department reports

At the start of the Nov. 18 meeting, the council approved Oct. 7 minutes (Speaker 6 moved; Speaker 4 seconded) with one abstention recorded by Council Member Hanover as not present at the prior meeting.
Speaker 7 (Christy) reported on the election canvass: nine challenge ballots were noted (four cured, five not), no provisional ballots, and five in-person county votes; clerks will finalize and sign the official canvass.
Speaker 6 presented the warrant list for Oct. 1–31, 2025, reporting totals that include a general fund of $53,016.75 and a grand total of $56,993.95. Speaker 5 moved to approve the warrant list and Speaker 1 seconded; the council voted in favor and members signed the list.
The meeting included routine department updates: cemetery fountains and lines winterized, fire department assistance with culvert clearing (with $50 per culvert reimbursement authorized), and Youth Council events including three successful Halloween movies and a planned Santa event on Dec. 6.
Public comment included Luke Rochelle asking about trash can distribution and whether the town could purchase church land (Speaker 4 said purchase at current per-lot rates would be well over $1,000,000). The council moved to adjourn at the meeting close.
