Clarkston mayor announces resignations and upcoming town clerk retirement

The mayor said Jeremy has resigned from the planning and zoning committee, with a last day of Dec. 19. Margie Archibald submitted a resignation effective Dec. 18 and will no longer perform custodial and maintenance duties at town facilities. Most prominently, the mayor announced that the town clerk — who has served for 18 years — has decided to retire effective Dec. 18.
"She served in this position for 18 years and she did a fantastic job," the mayor said, thanking the clerk for keeping the town functioning and helping avoid trouble over the years. The mayor said he will post the vacant positions and defer interviews to the incoming council so new council members can select candidates.
Holly agreed to step in and cover duties after the clerk's last day, the mayor said, and council discussion noted that Holly's move could open the deputy clerk slot if she applies. The mayor asked outgoing council members to return keys and books to Holly by the end of the month; he also said Holly will administer the swearing-in for the incoming council.
The council did not set hiring dates or list formal interim authorities beyond Holly's temporary coverage; the mayor said the new council will conduct interviews and make final hiring decisions.
