Several routine applications were considered and approved or conditionally approved by the Rockville Planning Commission.
Home occupation: The commission approved a home-occupation/business license for an online marketing business (applicant identified as Ethan Gorlman) to operate from 268 West Grafton Road. Commissioner Andy Straub moved that the application was complete and that the use remained incidental to the residence; the motion passed after a roll call. Staff instructed the applicant on next administrative steps and documentation.
Special event: Organizers of the Vacation Races presented the event route and aid-station locations. Commissioners expressed support based on prior years but conditioned approval on receiving three items: a completed special-event application form, a UDOT permit and a certificate of insurance. Deadlines for documentation were discussed (the commission requested submissions as soon as possible and discussed February 1/15/19 target dates); the commission approved the event contingent on meeting those conditions.
Building permits: The commission granted conditional approval for a building permit at 196 West Grafton Road (Casey Jennings) subject to corrected square-footage, elevation dimensions and an updated set of plans to be filed with the town. The accessory building application for 59 East Main (Phil and Lynn Varnish) was also approved after staff confirmed adjusted setbacks for the substandard lot and the fire marshal noted defensible-space considerations; commissioners found the accessory building complied with adjusted setbacks.
In each case commissioners recorded conditions and directed applicants to work with town staff on required corrections or paperwork before full permit issuance.
