Commissioners approved several personnel and policy items brought forward by HR and administrative staff.
HR presented a renewal of a voluntary LegalShield program that provides employees with access to legal services and identity-theft protection at employee cost; the county does not subsidize the plan and staff emphasized that participation is optional. Commissioners authorized renewal and directed HR to coordinate vendor participation in open-enrollment events.
Payroll for the pay period ending 09/27 was presented; HR reported 222 employees on that payroll and a gross amount paid. The commission voted to accept payroll as presented.
Staff also presented the state-required privacy program template (Policy 701). The county adopted Policy 701 and directed departments to complete the mandatory training; staff reported rollout progress and that 76 of an expected 175 participants had completed training at the time of the meeting. Commissioners asked staff to harmonize the county’s existing 500-series and 501-series policies with the new template and to track completion.
Next steps: HR will schedule vendor presentations during open enrollment, procurement and payroll will process deductions for participating employees, and records/IT will continue the privacy training rollout and reconcile older personnel policies into the new 701 template.
