Summary
The council ratified an emergency repair to the wastewater treatment plant by voice/electronic vote and received administration and department reports on IT/AV upgrades, the strategic plan community meeting, police charity plans and public works billing actions.
The Board of Aldermen ratified an emergency repair to the city wastewater treatment plant after a motion and second; council voted 7 in the affirmative with 1 absent to ratify the emergency repair.
During department reports and new business, staff described three vendor quotes for an AV/IT upgrade to improve meetingroom equipment. Steve said buying the hardware and using local installer Scott from S and S could lower the budgeted cost to about $11,200, though additional cabling might add minor costs. When asked how that purchase would be funded, staff responded it would come from the general fund and council gave tentative approval to proceed.
Staff also reminded the public of a strategic plan open-house scheduled for Nov. 19 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with engineers and architects available to review proposed park and facility improvements and gather public input.
Police reported operational items and promoted the 'Shop with a Cop' event on Dec. 13. Staff estimated roughly 225–230 children could participate; volunteers and donations were requested. Public Works reported collection activity had improved outcomes during a recent round of shutoffs; staff temporarily waived disconnect fees given limited prior notice, and about two-thirds of affected houses had service restored by mid-afternoon.
A motion to adjourn was later moved by David and seconded by Anita and the meeting was adjourned.
Next steps: Staff will execute the emergency repair procurement tasks as appropriate and proceed with the AV/IT purchase and public outreach for the strategic plan meeting.
