Gina Newby, who said she lives in the Briar Brook subdivision adjacent to the Bulldog Lake Parking Lot, asked the Carl Junction Board of Aldermen how residents can request a streetlight at that location, citing safety concerns.
"...it's always dark where questionable people pull in in the dark, and then another car pulls up in the dark, and they do their business, and then they leave," Newby said, describing why she and neighbors want improved lighting.
Council staff responded that Liberty manages the town's street lighting and will assess whether there is access and a right-of-way to install a fixture. The police chief acknowledged knowledge of the location and said officers had been contacted about the area; the chief did not announce any new enforcement actions during the meeting.
No formal motion or council action on the lighting request was recorded; staff said it would be "turned into Liberty" for evaluation. The board thanked Newby for bringing the concern forward and moved on to other business.
The exchange occurred during the public comment portion of the meeting and did not include a staff timeline or budget estimate for potential installation.
