The draft also clarifies that motorized play vehicles and pocket bikes remain prohibited on city streets, sidewalks and park trails; traffic engineer authority to post signs and existing enforcement mechanisms were discussed as implementation options.
An alderman asked whether the motorized-play-vehicle definition covers golf carts; staff replied that golf carts have a separate definition and are subject to their own rules for sidewalk and street operation. The presenter said the proposed update largely reflects existing restrictions but aligns certain definitions with state statute and codifies sign-posting and enforcement authority.
The ordinance appeared on the work-session agenda as item 5 for further consideration under new business; no final vote was taken during the session.
