Sunset swears in two officers; chief outlines recent raids, invites consolidated-dispatch briefing

The mayor praised the new hires and invited them to serve the community.
Later in the agenda the police chief updated the council on operational items. He said he had invited a representative from consolidated dispatch to brief the council at the next meeting on Jan. 6 and asked council members to forward any questions beforehand. "I've invited that gentleman to come out at the next council meeting just to talk to you guys in regards to consolidated dispatch and what's expected," the chief said.
The chief also described recent enforcement activity: a drone-assisted raid at an address referenced in the discussion that resulted in multiple arrests on drug-related charges, and a separate traffic stop and brief pursuit that led to a 20-year-old facing about 15 charges, including dangerous-weapons and driving-related counts. The chief said no civilians or structures were harmed in those incidents.
Council members and the mayor thanked the police department for the recruitments and for the enforcement work during a busy period. The chief asked council members to contact him with questions about the consolidated dispatch briefing or the recent operations.
