Planning commission forwards recommendation to mayor for micro‑deburring home‑occupation license

The Gunnison Planning and Zoning Commission on Oct. 22 recommended that the mayor approve a home‑occupation license for an applicant at 330 E. 300 S to perform micro‑deburring work under a microscope.

Planning staff described the operation as a low‑impact, desk‑based activity in which small parts are brought home from a contractor and worked on under a microscope to remove burrs. "It's a very fine detailed process where he has to use a microscope," said Dennis, planning staff, noting the work produces little external impact. Commissioners asked about worker safety and ventilation; staff advised that exposure risks are primarily an occupational health matter for the operator and suggested appropriate respiratory protection as a mitigation.

The commission moved and seconded a recommendation that the mayor sign the business license with the findings and conditions listed in the staff report. Dennis noted that final administrative sign‑off is a mayoral responsibility (or mayoral designee), and the staff can issue permits consistent with that approval.
