Dardenne Prairie staff report: new public works supervisor, RFPs, road projects and small-business openings

City staff reported Joe Morris will start as public works supervisor next week; the snow-and-ice RFP was issued (bids due July 11); Townsquare Avenue construction starts in early August; and three new businesses opened in the retail area.
City staff gave routine operational updates and economic-development news during the Dardenne Prairie work session.
City Engineer Matt said Joe Morris will start next Monday as the new public works supervisor. He reported the snow-and-ice removal RFP went out June 16 with bids due July 11, Townsquare Avenue mill-and-fill construction will start in early August, Stump Road is nearing completion, and the county has recommended two routes-to-school phases for funding that the county will decide on July 16.
City Administrator Kathy said recruitment for an IT manager and an executive assistant/deputy city clerk is underway with first-round interviews as soon as next week. She reported the June 20 summer concert was well attended despite hot temperatures, with the next concert scheduled for July 18.
Kathy also announced recent commercial openings in the Prairie retail area: Quarter Butcher in the Town Prairie retail space, Beans and Brew Coffee House near Bridal and 364, and Cloud 9 Massage in the Dardenne Prairie Plaza off Bryan Road. City Hall will be closed Friday for the Fourth of July holiday.
Board members also raised maintenance concerns: weeds growing through the bridge barrier on Townsquare Avenue (a MoDOT right-of-way) and leftover cones and signs from a county contractor (M and H) that a county contact said would be picked up before the weekend. City staff said contractors for upcoming paving will mow some areas and staff will follow up with county contacts on the cones and signs.
Next steps: staff will introduce Joe Morris to council members, continue procurement and project coordination, and follow up with county contacts on the contractor cleanup and MoDOT right-of-way maintenance.
