Price — The Price City Council on Nov. 25, 2025, swore in a new police officer, approved a $250 sponsorship for a student-run all-abilities pageant and adopted a set of ordinances and resolutions establishing 2026 meeting schedules and several personnel-related job descriptions.
The meeting opened with an invocation from Steve Swinburne of Price Chapel, who prayed for "wisdom" for incoming city leadership and asked blessings for the new officer. Council Member Willis offered holiday safety reminders, saying, "So cooking fires is always the number 1 thing," and urged residents to take common precautions over Thanksgiving.
During a presentation, Bentley Bennett, a Carbon High School sophomore and pageant organizer, asked the council to waive the Price City Civic Auditorium rental fee for "Crowning Competence," an all-abilities pageant scheduled for Jan. 10, 2026. Bennett told the council the event will be free to participants and attendees and will "rely on community scholarships and donations."
Council members moved to donate $250 as a sponsorship for the event. After a voice vote with no opposition recorded, the motion carried.
On routine business, the council adopted Ordinance No. 2025-005 setting the City Council meeting schedule for 2026 and Ordinance No. 2025-006 setting the Planning and Zoning Commission schedule for 2026. The council also approved the 2026 board committee meeting and holiday observance schedule on a separate motion.
The council approved Resolution No. 2025-026 to update the Price City planning and zoning permit fee schedule.
City staff informed the council the police department had secured a grant to fund a part-time evidence technician position. The council approved Resolution No. 2025-2627 to establish a job description so the position may be posted and filled; the motion passed on a voice vote.
At the mayor's request, the council approved Resolution No. 2025-028 updating the municipal job description for the fire chief, including a proposed pay-grade change from grade 22 to grade 24. The change was described as a minor modification to the job description body.
