At its Dec. 18 meeting the Glendale Town Council voted to donate $500 to the Valley Youth junior basketball program and approved a $1-per-hour raise for the clerk/treasurer, increasing pay from $15 to $16 per hour.
When the donation item was introduced, a council speaker asked who requested the funds; a participant named Samuel Linebeck as the requester and said the money would cover referees and uniforms. "Goes towards the refs, uniforms," the speaker said. The council moved and approved a $500 donation by voice vote.
On personnel, the council reviewed a scheduled 90-day evaluation for the clerk/treasurer. Speakers proposed increasing hourly pay to $16 immediately and adding a clause for a six-month review, at which the employee could be considered for another $1 increase. The motion to raise pay to $16 per hour was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
Both votes were recorded as voice approvals during the meeting. Council members noted they typically record raises in meeting minutes and that the six-month review would serve as a reminder to revisit compensation.
