Carl Junction’s Board of Aldermen voted to approve the purchase of a 17-foot mower intended for park maintenance during its Jan. 20 meeting.
Public works staff told the council the city received two bids for the mower and that the machine is a finished 17-foot unit designed to deliver a cleaner cut and greater efficiency than the city's current smaller mowers. "This is a finished mower, so it'll give a nice clean-cut and look very good," the public works representative said. Staff said the mower's wings fold up and it can be transported behind a tractor using built-in transport wheels.
Council member Roger moved to approve the purchase; Anita seconded. The council recorded seven in favor with one absent, and the motion passed. Staff noted the mower is expected to be delivered in March.
The purchase is intended to improve mowing efficiency at parks including Lakeside Park and replace less-suitable equipment for large areas. No financing breakdown beyond bid amounts was provided in the recorded discussion.
