Marriott-Slaterville honors residents with community awards and two lifetime Centurion prizes

A nomination for Aaron Butters recounted his assistance on July 4 after a trailer incident on Tomlinson: he helped replace a tire and stabilize the situation until highway patrol arrived, the presenter said. Staff described the nomination as a rescue and credited Butters for keeping those involved safe.
The city presented two Centurion Awards to Ellen Reedall and Orville Holly in recognition of "a lifetime of dedication, wisdom and service," according to the reading. The awards honored long-term civic contributions and community leadership.
Other recognitions included a certificate for Slater Jones as the 2026 wilderness circuit queen, described as a seventh-generation community member using the title to preserve rodeo traditions; Maurice Pitcher and Kerry Wayne received history-and-culture awards for sharing vintage vehicles at local shows; and Sailor and Lincoln Wall were singled out with Youth Leadership Awards after removing litter from an I-15 catwalk, an action the presenter said reduced a potential driving hazard.
Sue Bodley received the Daryl Mecham Outstanding Community Service Award for extensive volunteer work in city programs and historical preservation, and Lily and Caleb Warren were also honored for volunteer service supporting the Utah Renaissance Festival and farm maintenance.
The ceremony portion ended with recipients thanking the mayor and staff; certificates were distributed and the meeting proceeded to the next agenda item.
The awards were presented as recognitions of volunteerism and civic contribution; no formal motions, votes or policy actions were recorded in this segment.
