A resident’s safety concern about student pickup at Prairie View Elementary prompted discussion during officer and staff communications at the Dardenne Prairie board meeting on May 7.
An alderman relayed that a resident who left early from the meeting had raised traffic and safety issues during bad weather when more parents pick up students. The resident reportedly said street parking was blocking traffic and creating hazardous conditions. Board members said they had not received the resident’s name at the meeting but agreed to follow up and investigate the situation with staff.
Separately, during public comment Matt Wade, a nonresident, praised the board’s open public-comment practice and said he brought his son to observe civic process as part of a scout communications merit-badge exercise. The board thanked him and recognized the scouting visit.
The board instructed staff to follow up on the school-pickup concern and indicated the city would revisit the issue with staff and the resident to determine whether mitigation such as parking enforcement or alternate pickup arrangements is needed.
