Awards included drawstring bags from the Margate Police Department, Calypso Cove water-park tickets, $10 Walmart gift cards, police challenge coins, Margate Fire Department t-shirts and other small prizes for students; teachers received a $20 Walmart gift card and similar department swag. Named student honorees included Pedro Ponton (Ascend Academy), Jose Zuniga (Atlantic West Elementary), Lucas Fernandez (Broward Math and Science School), Hannah Aldema (Liberty Elementary), Fallon Radcliffe (Margate Elementary) and Isabelle Morris (Phil’s Academy Preparatory School). Teacher honorees cited in the presentation included Timothy Wynn, Bradley Lynn and Gloria MacFarlane.
The mayor and commissioners joined honorees for photos and recessed briefly to allow family pictures in the lobby.
