Votes at a glance: Bossier City Council approves emergency sewer repairs, budget transfers and several hires

Among the votes taken:
- Emergency repair — Veil Drive gravity main: council adopted an emergency ordinance to replace a collapsed gravity main on Veil Drive at a cost of $297,000; funding to come from the Sewer Capital and Contingency Fund. Motion by Councilwoman Ross; second by Councilman Chris Smith; voice vote carried.
- Emergency repair — Central Park Lift Station influent manhole: council adopted an emergency ordinance for repairs at a cost of $92,000 from the Sewer Capital and Contingency Fund. Motion by Councilman Hammond; second by Councilman Chris Smith; voice vote carried.
- Lateral B1 ditch paving project change order: council approved Change Order 2, adding $88,750 and 10 days, bringing the contract to $2,225,272 (final reading); motion carried.
- Repeal and disposal — voting board: council repealed ordinance 138 of 2015 and declared the old voting board surplus with instructions for disposal; council clarified the device will be donated to the local history center. Roll-call vote recorded: Chris Smith Yea; Cochran Yea; Hammonds No; Ross Yea; Cliff Smith Yea. Motion carries (4–1).
- Transfer to risk management fund: council approved transferring $2,200,000 from the Riverboat Gaming Trust Fund to the risk management fund for workers' compensation premiums; motion carried.
- Budget amendments: council approved final reading to amend the 2026 city council operating and capital fund budgets; motion carried.
- Crossing guards MOU (first reading and approval): council authorized Mayor Thomas Chandler to execute a memorandum of understanding with the Bossier Parish School Board for cost-sharing crossing guards used throughout the city; roll-call vote recorded (4–1) with Councilman Hammonds voting no.
- Personnel resolutions: council adopted multiple first-and-final-reading resolutions to hire or backfill positions in animal control, parks and recreation, water distribution, and information services; motions carried.
