Florissant honors officers and dispatchers for life‑saving actions and public‑safety work

The Florissant City Council honored a series of police officers and dispatchers on Nov. 10 for actions city leaders said directly contributed to saving lives and improving public safety.
Chief Fagan and Mayor Lowry presented commendations that cited specific incidents by date and officer. City remarks credited Officer Jacob Engelmann for administering CPR to a 4‑year‑old on Oct. 28, 2024; Officer Matthew Morris for a November 2024 period in which staff recorded 10 arrests including driving‑while‑intoxicated and drug‑related charges; and dispatchers Maggie Haggard and Lindsay Nelke for their response to an assault and ensuing vehicle pursuit on Feb. 16, 2025 that helped protect a victim.
Other recognitions included Officer Daniel Vaughn and Officer Christopher Dahl for overlay‑unit work and numerous field interviews and arrests, Officer Maj Awada and Officer Matthew Luber for extracting victims from a burning vehicle on June 16, 2025, and Officer Christopher Bonadies for coordinating the recovery of his K‑9 partner, Raider. Officer Adam Huff was commended for an off‑duty intervention and medical aid following a collision on June 15, 2025. Officer Megan Lokey was recognized for apprehending a fleeing suspect and recovering a stolen firearm during a Dec. 26, 2024 canvass.
Mayor Lowry thanked the honorees and reminded residents of community events and volunteer opportunities that support public safety. The council recorded no public comment during the commendations portion of the meeting.
The city will file the commendation records with personnel files per city practice.
