WALSBURG, Utah — The Walsburg Town Council on March 6 swore in Ron Horton as its newest council member and approved both the monthly budget and an amended budget following a Feb. 27 budget audit.
Horton took the oath of office in a brief ceremony before the council recessed into business, and council members noted he will take responsibility for aspects of the town’s water operations. Later in the meeting the council discussed routine line-item questions in the check register, including small miscellaneous charges and a potentially duplicated MNI water assessment; staff said they would follow up to avoid duplicate payments.
The council voted to adopt the monthly budget after discussion and a motion to approve. Following a separate audit on Feb. 27, members also voted unanimously to adopt an amended budget that reallocated modest amounts within the same budget classification, officials said. The council described the reallocation as internal bookkeeping rather than new spending.
The meeting agenda listed the audit as the justification for the amendment and the motion passed by unanimous voice vote. Council members said the adjustments were small and that the money was available in existing accounts.
The meeting adjourned after completing the agenda; the council scheduled routine follow-ups on water-system items and road updates for upcoming meetings.
