Wasatch Trails Foundation reports new seasonal trail crew work and spring grand opening plans

Mia Yu, executive director of the Wasatch Trails Foundation, presented the foundation’s 2025 year‑end report, highlighting a first paid seasonal trail crew funded in part by Midway, Heber City and Wasatch County.
Yu said the crew logged almost 3,000 trail hours and the organization paid approximately $120,000 in payroll for the season. The crew worked on projects including the Wenbonanza connector (linking Wasatch County to Summit County), the Woah downhill trail and Dutch Hollow restoration. She noted the foundation also managed more than 5,500 volunteer hours and used Trailforks to track crew and volunteer activity.
Yu asked council to consider the foundation’s contributions when evaluating future TAP grant applications; she emphasized that roughly 75% of paid crew hours were spent in Wasatch Mountain State Park and that the crew helped complete projects that had been in development for years.
Council thanked the foundation for its work and said they valued trails in Midway.
