Gary Kettington of Kettington Christensen presented the independent audit of Washington Terrace and summarized the finding: the auditors issued an "unmodified opinion" on the city's financial statements and did not identify any disagreements with management on accounting principles or material weaknesses in internal control.
Kettington explained the role of footnote disclosures to explain debt, cash and other balances and urged members and the public to review the published statements and footnotes for detail about the city's liabilities and balances. "Our opinion is what we call an unmodified opinion...the financial statements that were presented with that opinion are in conformity with the accounting principles," he said. He added that compliance testing of federal programs and contract compliance did not produce reportable findings requiring council action.
Council thanked the auditors for their presentation and said they felt comfortable with the findings. There was no formal action required beyond receipt of the report.
