Price City Council adopts 2026 updates to land use and development code

Price City Council voted Jan. 14, 2026, to adopt Ordinance 2026-0001, making annual updates to the city s land use and management code.

City planning staff summarized the updates at a public hearing before the vote. "This is part of the annual cycle," a planning staffer identified as Nick said, explaining the Planning Commission reviewed the proposed edits at its retreat and at a public hearing. He said two changes are substantive: edits related to planned-unit-development plans that recur across the code, and adjustments to parking rules that "solidify" the Planning Commission's ability to require additional parking.

The ordinance was considered after the public hearing opened at about 5:35 p.m. and closed with no public commenters on the proposal. A council member moved to adopt the ordinance; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

City staff said the changes appear across multiple zones and are intended to clarify application standards and the Planning Commission s discretion on site-specific parking needs. The Planning Commission had discussed the same changes in late 2025 at its annual retreat and held a public hearing on the revisions before forwarding them to the council.

Because the adoption was done by local ordinance, the changes take effect according to the ordinance s provisions and any required posting or publication steps the city follows for ordinance enactment. Council members did not discuss substantive edits to specific parcels during the meeting.

The council proceeded to other business after the ordinance vote; staff and the Planning Commission will handle any follow-up implementation steps or clarifying language requests that arise during building- or site-review processes.
