Morrow County staff update: Community Service Building walkthrough, minor change orders and architecture study underway

MORNING — County staff provided project updates about the Community Service Building and related facilities during the Morrow County Board of Commissioners meeting.
Mr. Brecker told commissioners that the architecture firm Wooden Architecture/Amnis Design was onsite to take measurements for an ongoing study and that the contractor finished work at the Community Service Building after completing a holiday cleanup. "We are officially done," he said, and added he plans a final walkthrough and will finalize the contractor’s bill.
Brecker said two additional items not in the project’s original scope will require a supplemental appropriation and a change order: an extra wall treatment in a bathroom and a fresh coat of paint on storage racks in a storage area. He told the board the project should remain below the formal bid threshold and recommended soliciting multiple quotes. Staff discussed whether to wait until occupants are moved out of "Area D" before seeking estimates; Brecker said they were close enough to begin obtaining quotes and to fine-tune plans with the board of elections for design details.
He also reported that a meeting about a fuel farm held on Friday went well and that delivery and installation were on track. No board action was taken at the meeting; staff indicated they will bring any needed supplemental appropriation or change order requests back to the board for formal approval.
