Commissioners highlight transportation grant opportunities; note coroner office move and BrainDocs demo

Commissioners used their meeting time on Aug. 11, 2025 to summarize recent department and interagency activity, calling attention to several potential grant opportunities and operational improvements.

One commissioner said the transportation meeting contained "a lot of good information concerning some grants that people aren't really taking advantage of," and suggested outreach to invite local stakeholders to learn more about available funding. The remark pointed to a possible local effort to increase grant uptake but no formal directive or appropriation was made during this session.

Commissioners Siegfried and another commissioner reported visiting the coroner's office as it moved into a new space and described the facility as improved and "very nice." The board noted staff were in the process of moving in.

A commissioner also reported that "Jessica showed us in operation, the BrainDocs machine, how that works," and said the device had already been used a couple of times and provided information the staff did not have previously. The board discussed the machine's usefulness; no purchase or policy decision was recorded in this meeting.

Those remarks were shared as part of the commissioners' verbal reports and did not result in formal votes during the Aug. 11 session. The meeting closed after routine procedural motions and an adjournment vote.
