Morrow County updates airport projects; fuel‑farm pad poured, runway extension years away

A staff member said the fuel‑farm pad has been poured and that fuel tanks are expected to arrive; the county is awaiting the final steps to bring the tanks online. "They're putting dollars in on the front side," the staff member said, noting the work will support growing airport traffic.
Staff also described an LED runway lighting project and ongoing work to identify and meet approach qualifications. Those approach and qualification changes must be settled before the county can press forward with a runway extension. Officials estimated the runway extension could be two to three years out for planning and five to seven years for completion under current assumptions.
The county noted several fixed businesses operate at the airport and that the fuel‑farm and lighting projects are part of broader efforts to accommodate increased use. No formal approvals or funding allocations were made at the meeting beyond staff updates.
