Morrow County advances Marocone jail expansion, approves submission for phases 2 and 3

Mister Carr, who presented the late submittal from the project’s architecture firm, said the documents include the site and floor plans, projected staffing levels and operating-cost estimates the county expects after the facility opens. "All this is just site plans, our floor plans, our jail staffing, what we think is gonna cost us to run the jail after the spill," Carr said, urging commissioners to sign the forms so the sheriff can also sign and the county can forward the materials to the state.
The county indicated that once the state submission is complete and a contractor is selected — anticipated during September — construction can proceed. Commissioners moved and seconded the submission approval and recorded affirmative roll-call responses.
No vote tallies beyond affirmative roll-call confirmations were specified in the record. The board did not adopt additional project details in this meeting; staff said contractor selection and construction timing will depend on the procurement process and final state approvals.
