Westborough AFC approves June minutes, discusses year-end appropriation report and meeting schedule

At its July 8 meeting, the Town of Westborough Advisory Finance Committee moved and approved the minutes from its June 17 meeting and discussed the timing and format of the year-end appropriation report and upcoming meeting dates.

Member McMahon moved to approve the June 17 minutes; member Clap seconded, and the committee conducted a roll-call vote. The chair announced seven members present and summarized the result as approved with a tally of 5 yes, 0 no, 2 abstentions. The transcript roll call recorded several members saying “yes” during the vote; the chair stated the minutes were approved.

Member McMahon asked about the timetable for the final appropriation report, noting, “The appropriation report that we last got was in April 2024.” Committee members and the chair said year-end closing typically delays the final (June) report and that the full, closed-year report is often available in July or August; one member recommended waiting for a complete close rather than an early partial report. Members also discussed receiving the report in Excel format (preferred) rather than a PDF to avoid manual conversion.

On scheduling, the chair proposed canceling the July 22 meeting because year-end closing information will likely be unavailable; members discussed calendar conflicts and confirmed a mid-August meeting (August 15). Later in the meeting, member Clap moved to adjourn and McMahon seconded; roll call produced unanimous yes votes and the chair declared the meeting adjourned.

No new transfers or budget authorizations were considered at the meeting.
