Syracuse City’s presiding official announced that the North Davis Sewer District recently purchased a farm in Snowville to accept biosolids produced by the district and by several neighboring districts.
During the council announcements, the speaker said the district’s acquisition will provide a local disposal option as prior sites used in Weber County become unavailable. The speaker added that the district plans to pursue programs to increase dewatering of solids because ‘‘water weighs a lot,’’ a step intended to reduce hauling costs and logistical burdens.
Council members described the acquisition as a proactive, locally managed solution; no council action was required at the meeting. The announcement was provided for public awareness as the district and city evaluate operational logistics and interagency arrangements.
