The Olympia Metropolitan Park District board unanimously adopted a balanced 2026 budget totaling $5,760,213 and approved a resolution setting the district's 2026 ad valorem tax at its Nov. 10 meeting.
Silvana Nehauser, Director, Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation, told the board the district presented a budget at an Oct. 21 hearing that exceeded projected revenues. "We have presented a budget that was slightly higher than the projected revenues at the October 21 meeting, and we had a hearing on that," Nehauser said. She said staff reduced spending so the budget now "matches the revenue" and "instead of using any fund balance, we are proposing a balanced budget with the expected revenues for 2026," resulting in the $5,760,213 figure.
After the staff recap, the board president moved to adopt the budget resolution and recorded a second; members voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously. The board then considered a separate resolution to set the 2026 ad valorem tax. The president said there were no changes from the version presented at the public hearing; the board moved, seconded and voted to adopt the tax resolution unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the agenda and the October minutes by unanimous votes. No members of the public were recorded as signing up for public comment.
The board president, who said this was their last meeting serving as president, called for any items for the good of the order and adjourned the meeting.
