William Penn SD highlights teacher induction, hiring fair, benefits enrollment and HR walk-in sessions

At the May 29 personnel committee meeting, Miss Gardner highlighted several human-resources efforts aimed at recruitment and employee support, including completion of a new teacher induction cohort, a recent hiring fair, benefit deadlines and planned HR access sessions.
Miss Gardner congratulated 24 teachers who completed the district's new teacher induction program, which met monthly from September through April and included sessions on common planning time, IEP roles and responsibilities and instructional technology.
She also reported the district hosted a May 8 hiring fair at Penwood Middle School with 25 attendees; principals met candidates the following week and recommended hires for Park Lane, Ninth Grade Academy and Penwood High School. Miss Gardner said most applicants sought noninstructional positions but that teacher candidates were among attendees.
On benefits, staff were reminded that open enrollment closes at 8 p.m. on May 30 and that counselors are available 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Miss Gardner said life-changing events can be handled at any time through Human Resources. The committee announced a Walk-in Wednesday on June 17, 12–3 p.m., for employees to visit HR without an appointment and said the district plans retirement workshops with Peazers, aiming to hold the next session in October.
Miss Gardner also updated the board that negotiations for act 93 and SSO groups are nearing completion and are expected to be presented in June; several board members asked to see contract details before any membership votes.
