Committee members pressed on tuition-reimbursement eligibility for employees who already hold master's degrees in unrelated fields. Speaker 2 said the current contract prohibits tuition reimbursement for employees who already have a master's degree unless they have 10 years of service; Speaker 2 asked the contracts team to review whether that rule hinders recruiting professionals who want to retrain as teachers.
The district emphasized written notices will go to affected employees and that HR will track compliance and support staff through the certification process. No formal policy change was approved at the meeting.
