Board approves Fox Valley Career Center 2024'25 budget; district notes $541.08 surplus

The Kaneland CUSD 302 Board unanimously approved the Fox Valley Career Center 2024'25 budget after a brief presentation and questions about how tuition and reconciliations work.
Dr. Bogan explained that Fox Valley Career Center, administered by Kaneland SD 302 as the sending administrative district, builds program budgets based on preenrollment numbers and then reconciles at year end when actual enrollment is known. "They build their program budget based on the number of kids... whatever their expenses are, they take all of those expenses for the program divided by the number of students and then that is the tuition for that program," he said.
The Fox Valley budget submitted to the board is balanced with revenues exceeding expenditures by $541.08 and is about 4.2% higher than last year (roughly just under $100,000 more). Dr. Bogan said any unspent money at year end is returned to sending districts during reconciliation.
Board member Miss Slattery moved approval and the board adopted the budget by roll call, 7'00.
