Crack-sealing set for early October at Middleton municipal field; staged work, NOTAMs planned

Summary
Contractor Farner Asphalt Sealers has tentatively scheduled crack-sealing at the municipal field for the week of Oct. 6; work is staged to avoid full closures, may last about seven days and NOTAMs and tenant notices will be issued.
City staff and SEH, the airport’s engineering contractor, told the Middleton Airport Commission on Sept. 4 that crack‑seal maintenance at the field is tentatively scheduled for the week of Oct. 6 and will be staged to limit closures. The contractor estimates about seven days of work but said weather could extend the schedule; daily coordination and NOTAMs will be issued so pilots and tenants can plan.
Ryan (SEH) said Farner Asphalt Sealers, the contractor, will work in sections so the airport will not be shut down at once, and staff will send a construction notice and NOTAMs once the schedule is pinned. Airport staff said tenants who are boxed in by a single taxiway may face movement restrictions while the contractor sequences work and that evening/night operations are expected to resume nightly when the material cures sufficiently.
The commission asked whether the October date could shift earlier; SEH said the crew is scheduled in nearby states and, based on current sequencing, the date is more likely to move later than earlier. SEH and airport staff said they will be on site daily during the work to coordinate operations and to minimize disruptions.
Practical details: the contractor expects seven calendar days of work but noted that cooler temperatures at that time may speed cures and permit temporary driving across cured surfaces; pilots should expect some rerouting and occasional back‑taxi; hangar tenants should watch for distribution emails and posted NOTAMs.
