The Tenino City Council approved routine items and heard finance and staffing updates during its Feb. 25 meeting.
Council moved and seconded approval of the agenda and minutes and then voted to approve the consent calendar, which included payroll and electronic transfers and claims checks totaling $105,063.07 and the application for a liquor license for Simply Organic Cafe and Catering. Council approved those items by voice vote.
In a clerk/treasurer update, staff reported three primary accounts: a court checking account that ended January at $3,901.58; the main account, which began the month at about $1.13 million, saw $241,140 in deposits and $542,959 in expenditures and ended at about $765,000; and a high-yield account that rose to roughly $622,000 after interest. Staff explained January typically shows heavy outflows for lump-sum payments and noted the need for carryover to cover early-year obligations.
The council also agreed to post the clerk‑treasurer position, keep the posting open until a suitable candidate is found and move forward with interviews when applications arrive. The mayor said additional temporary pay would be offered to staff taking on extra duties during transitions.
