She said she has served as a liaison with the state auditor's office during audits and believes controls and consistent staffing can correct the problems identified in recent state audit findings.
Mayor (unnamed) said the council had made a conditional offer to Redick that required passing a background check, being bonded and formal council approval. After questions from council members about the candidate's experience, the council moved and seconded a motion to confirm Redick; a voice vote was taken and the motion passed.
Redick told the council she would not "sugarcoat" the city's finances and said she would present multi-year budgeting and controls aligned with auditor expectations.
The confirmation was contingent on the background and bonding steps the mayor outlined earlier in the meeting.
