Tenino council approves consent calendar, fee waiver, budget amendments and planning‑commission appointment

Consent and finances: The council approved a consent calendar that included payroll EFTs of $48,009.02 and claims checks (33306–33334) amounting to a combined total presented as $580,190.89; staff explained that the larger amount this period reflected a $400,000 loan payment for the wastewater treatment plant.
Fee waiver: The council moved and seconded to waive special event fees for the Canal Arts/Stone City Arts Festival for 2025 and approved the waiver by voice vote after staff confirmed no standing prohibition on waivers.
Budget amendments: Council adopted a budget amendment to carry forward $14,639.49 remaining from the 2023 Corey House renovation and to release $9,942.82 in retainage after required paperwork (LNI, DOR, employment security) was confirmed. The council also adopted a net‑zero $7,500 budget amendment for an Arts Law contract.
Appointment: The council voted to appoint Valerie Roberts to planning commission position No. 5. Roberts introduced herself, noted she lives in Tenino and works for the City of Olympia parks department, and described her work rehabilitating the Olympia armory (recently listed on the National Register). Council indicated they will swear her in at the next meeting.
