Tenino council accepts $10,000 donation from Splash Bash Committee to support Quarry Pool operations

The Tenino City Council on June 24 accepted donations from the Tenino Splash Bash Committee and the Park Foundation of Thurston County to support summer programs and Quarry Pool operations. Pam Light, chair of the Splash Bash Committee, presented a $400 grant to the Timberland library summer reading program and told the council the committee and the Park Foundation were providing funds to help keep the Quarry Pool open for 2025.
Pam said the committee and the foundation were "pleased to give the city of Tenino the attached check for $9,000" to support pool operations and a $1,000 grant for the Tenino family fund; council discussion recorded the acceptance as a total $10,000 contribution for the Quarry Pool. A council member moved to accept the donation, it was seconded, and the council voted in the affirmative.
The library’s coordinating librarian, Linda McKinney, thanked the committee and described summer reading incentives; the accepted funds include $400 earmarked for that program. During public comment, Deb Reichelter thanked the council for discounted pool passes for families eligible for free or reduced-price school lunch and said she would provide an update by email.
What’s next: The clerk will process the donation acceptance on record and funds will support pool operations and related community programs this summer.
