"We finished the backside, putting up the stones, and I will be starting to cut the facing stones for the front side," Phillips said, noting he will teach classes and that other guild members are offering instruction and demonstrations.
Councilors thanked Phillips and discussed working with the school district to connect students to hands‑on stone‑carving demonstrations or classes. Staff described the classes as city‑run registrations that collect fees to be forwarded to instructors, similar to other community recreation programming.
Council members emphasized support for the arts district and the civic role of local stone‑carving as both a cultural asset and a potential educational opportunity for students.
