Tenino council approves consent calendar, change orders and voter registration proclamation

Tenino City Council on Aug. 12 approved routine business and several project change orders while opening a public hearing on its six‑year street plan.

The council approved the evening’s agenda and minutes, then passed the consent calendar covering July 23–Aug. 12, 2025, which included payroll electronic funds transfers and vendor payments. Staff told the council the monthly total of $350,233.84 was unusually large because nearly $150,000 was spent on sludge removal at the wastewater treatment plant.

Council members approved Change Order No. 3 for the Old Highway 99 project — a $7,355.40 adjustment staff said remained within the overall grant — and separately approved a change order to add electric‑vehicle chargers at locations including the Sandstone Cafe, using remaining grant money. Staff said additional chargers at the quarry house may be possible depending on PSE upgrade costs.

The council read and approved a proclamation recognizing National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 16, 2025. Arturo Teravicci of the Thurston County Auditor’s Office said registration is available online at votewa.gov and highlighted same‑day registration and county outreach to local libraries.

The council opened a public hearing on the city’s six‑year transportation improvement plan and summarized six candidate projects — including the Tenino trail design, Old 99 completion, Old Military Road, McClellan Street, Morningside Drive and Eureka Street South — but deferred adoption. Staff said a second public hearing will be scheduled and a formal resolution considered at the next meeting.
