Olympia — The Olympia City Council on Dec. 9 approved a petition to vacate two 10‑foot‑wide portions of an alley south of Legion Way between Adams and Jefferson Streets and directed staff to prepare a vacation ordinance with payment set at one‑half of the appraised value.
City surveyor Adam Dreler presented the site plan and told councilors the proposed vacation consists of two sections, one 60 feet and the other 5 feet in length, both 10 feet wide. Dreler said notices were mailed to property owners within 300 feet and the public hearing notice was posted on site; he reported no inquiries had been received about this petition.
With no members of the public signed up to testify, a motion to approve the petition was made and seconded, and the council adopted the direction to staff to prepare the ordinance and require payment equal to half the appraised value.
Next steps: Staff will return with a proposed ordinance and any necessary procedural paperwork to finalize the vacation.
